About Me
I've been writing for 25 years in a variety of settings - newspapers,
trade associations, non-profits, advertising agencies and colleges.
As a journalist, I've been a staff writer for the Portland Press
Herald, Maine Sunday Telegram, and Kennebec Journal - and have
been a regular contributor to Country Home magazine and
Maine Public Radio.
Advertising clients have included the Boston agencies Arnold Worldwide
and Strategic Interactive Group; in Maine, I've worked for NL Partners,
Garrand & Co., and Mahan Graphics. My college clients include
Bowdoin College, Colby College, Virginia Commonwealth University,
University of Southern Maine, Southern Maine Technical College and
the Maine Technical College System.
How I work
Writing is a matter of asking questions and of listening for specifics.
Yet many people only understand themselves and their work in the
broadest sense. I work to uncover the details, quirks and stories
that truly frame people's lives and their work. Clients often tell
me that they understand themselves, their organization, a product,
or an idea much more deeply after having worked with me. More importantly,
they feel excited about what they're doing. That's my goal: to help
people communicate their most vital truth.
