Organizations work with me to refine their communications framework
and to build constituency support. I help clients define target
audiences, develop key marketing messages, develop communications
plans, and present compelling research that backs up their cause.
Case Study
I helped the campuses of the Maine Technical College System more
than double their degree enrollment in the past decade and position
themselves for their new role as community colleges. My work included:
| Working
with the President's staff to research Maine's employment
and education trends, preparing a detailed report to the Legislature
on "Improving Access to the Maine Technical College System."
This document was critical in helping the technical colleges
receive legislative support for its successful $26 million
capital improvement bond. |
 |
| Researching
and helping to write the System's five-year Strategic Plan,
communicating a vision for expanding the role of technical
education in Maine, and defining the critical financial, technological,
and educational issues that would likely affect this growth. |
 |
| Helping
position Maine's Technical Colleges nationally as experts
on workplace innovation, by working with its affiliate, Center
for Career Development, to publish its first white paper
a study of Knowledge Supply Chain models for education. |
 |
| Developing
creative for the System's radio,
print and television ad campaigns, which helped to spark a
16 percent increase in enrollment. |
|
| Working
with the public affairs office to develop a one-year Marketing
and Communications Plan, which resulted in dozens of newspaper
articles, a new Web site, and increased
cooperation among Maine's seven technical colleges. |
